Butterflies - Photographed by Luca

Room 19 was aflutter with excitement. Three of our monarch butterflies have hatched. We left them undisturbed until their wings had dried then Mrs D very carefully carried them outside. We left them on the pittosporum bushes in the Big A playground. When we checked later in the afternoon they had flown away. "Will we ever see them again?" we wondered. Great photos Luca!

Assembly 21st March 2012

Room 19 hosted the Year 3 Assembly today. Our great presenters were Angus and Nicole. Luca did an excellent job of explaining how we made our mirror portraits. Certificates were awarded to Youri (Heart of Achievement), Nicole (Values) and Lachlan (Academic). Congratulations!

Guess The Baby Competition

Over the last couple of weeks we have been bringing in baby photos and writing clues to go with the photo. On Friday we played "Guess the Baby!" The winners of the competition were Jamie, Niamh M and Angus. Good Detective work! Lots of mums, dads and friends were also trying to figure out who was who. The answers are now up on the wall. You are welcome to come and see if you were right.

Swimming Lessons

Today was our first day of Swimming Lessons. We thought these words were good adjectives to describe our day.

fantastic,
wonderful
awesome
noisy
excellent
 sweet
 fun
 exciting
 wet!

Impossible!

Today in maths we were looking at probability. Some of the words we were using were possible, impossible, certain, likely, unlikely.

Chloe wrote some excellent statements using impossible and she also showed our class focus on effort by completing 3 statements - 2 more than were asked for. Well done Chloe, keep up the great work, you are a star.

1. It is impossible that a human can eat an elephant in one gulp.
2. It is impossible that paper can eat scissors.
3. It is impossible that a photo can come to life.

Swimming Lessons

Just a reminder that we will be going swimming EVERYDAY this week. We will be leaving school at 11.00am so make sure you have some healthy food at morning tea to give you energy. We will be back at school about lunch time.

Please make sure you have your gear with you EVERYDAY!

You will need:
  • a dry towel
  • your togs
  • your goggles (if you need them)
  • a swimming bag or strong plastic bag big enough to put ALL your clothes & shoes in to keep them safe and dry. Please note that supermarket bags rip very easily and are not suitable for this purpose.

Litter!

Last week we were on Wombling Duty with Room 27. After lunch we checked the school grounds and picked up any rubbish that people had carelessly dropped. We collected 1.8 kilograms of rubbish. We were surprised at how much rubbish there was and would like to remind everybody to take their lunch wrappers home and to put rubbish in the bins!
