Jellie Park Trip

It was a great day at the pool today. The sun was shining and the hot weather was a nice change from recent weeks. Thank you to all the parent helpers who came along and helped everyone to have a fun day in the water.

I found out that
... I can close my eyes and mouth and put my head right under the water. (Quillan)
... you can jump in the pool at the deep end. (Luca)
... it was deep at the end. (Angus)
... there were heaps of people there. (Niamh M)

Frogs Frogs Frogs

This week we have been finding out about frogs. We have been reading books about frogs, talking about frogs and making origami jumping frogs. The children have been challenged to find out what sort of frog our class pet Ruby is. Is she a native frog or an introduced species? Click on the Delicious icon at the side of this page, then select Stacks from the top tabs. There are five sites that will help you find out.  This picture might help too.

Little Hotch Potch

As part of our Marvellous Me Unit we read the book Little Hotch Potch by Brian Patten and Michael Terry. It is about a little creature who doesn't know what he is. He asks a lot of other animals if they can help him and we find out that he is made up of a lot of different animals.

We made our own Little Hotch Potch by using pastels to colour a feather each. Before we started we looked at pastel art by various artists and at some feathers for inspiration.

This is our little Hotch Potch.
Some of our feathers have spots,
some have stripes
 and they are all colourful.

Our feathers are unique - just like us.

First Day Reflections

As part of our learning we spend time reflecting on our day. Today the children used the starter "I found out that ..."

- we can use the Big A playground.
- we can't go on the Little A playground.
- the desk lids lift up.
- the classroom monitors are put on the tree leaves.
- the salamander's name is Sid.
