Stationery

Labelling Your School Books

We are really looking forward to you coming back to school next week!
If you are wondering what all of those books are for and how you should label them, use the list below to help you. Book coverings like duraseal are handy to help make your child's books more identifiable and harder wearing, but this is not essential.

Scrapbooks (4)
Maths
Topic
Home Learning
Reading

JWB (6)
Writing – Diary
Writing – Genre
Handwriting
Word Exploration
Two spare books for later in the year

1A5 (2)
Poetry
Observational Drawing

The children will be using their own equipment so please name all stationery, glue sticks and writing utensils.
Children may use a pencil case if they wish, but they will also be making a pencil/pen holder in the first two weeks.

Welcome to 2013 in Room 19

I hope everyone has been enjoying their holidays and will have lots of experiences to share when we start back on Monday the 4th of February.

There are a couple of things you might like to start collecting for us;

  • clean, empty tin cans with the lids and labels removed - baked beans or tinned fruit sizes are perfect
  • clean newspapers
  • flattened, empty Weetbix/Cornflakes packets - or others of similar size and card thickness
  • a photo of yourself as a baby in a named envelope please (these will be displayed for a couple of weeks then returned)

It was lovely to see Amelia, Alannah and Noah when they popped into the classroom this week and I am looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces again. We are going to have a great year together!

Fundraising for School of St Judes

Thank you to everyone who donated money on our mufti day for St Judes. We raised $319.20! Well done. We have been fortunate to have had support from other communities around the world recently and it is wonderful to be able to "pass it forward" by helping others.

Beach Education Trip

Tuesday 4th December
Bus leaves at 9:00am!
Rain or shine!

Our big trip this term is to attend a beach education day at South Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. The trip will be on whatever the weather and the programme will be adjusted to suit the conditions.

This is a fun day with an important focus on learning to stay safe at the beach and in the sun. We will be traveling to the beach by bus with Room 13. The bus will be leaving school at 9:00am so please ensure your child is at school in plenty of time.

Key Learning:
  • keeping safe in the sun and at the beach
  • the need to be supervised when swimming
  • the role of the lifeguard
  • identifying features of the beach and water
  • developing confidence in the water
Children and Parent Helpers will need to bring:
  • togs and towel
  • a wetsuit if possible
  • NAMED water bottle
  • morning tea AND lunch
  • Jacket
  • Hat and sun screen
  • Warm clothing (mufti)
  • footwear suitable for the beach
Fingers crossed for some summer weather!
